Sunil Garg, MD and Global Head of Research & Investments, spoke to Dan Murphy on CNBC’s Capital Connection about the outlook of global markets post-French election.
Sunil discussed the impact of politics on policy and investments, emphasizing the risk of a tax-and-spend government worsening bond deals. In Europe, he highlighted a sectoral focus on bottom-up opportunities with secular growth, irrespective of politics. He pointed out that companies with a global footprint and sustainable competitive advantages, particularly in healthcare, luxury, and technology, are areas of continued interest.
Sunil also shared his views on Morgan Stanley's prediction of a 10% market correction before the US elections, noting it as a reasonable and healthy correction in a bull market. He explained that a catalyst for this would be earnings deliveries, especially given the high expectations in AI-related stocks. At a market level, however, he believes the growth trajectory of the US market remains strong.
